Through facilitation, discussion and exercises, the participants explore their own and other cultural perspectives and how those perspectives influence communication, decision-making and patient compliance.
We’ll address some of the many areas where cultures differ in how they address medical issues and the factors that may come into play during treatment and recovery.
This workshop will provide employees with the skills to:
Adjust to another culture without setting aside their values.
Identify possible communication challenges when addressing patients from other cultures
Avoid giving or taking offense.
Avoid some of the pitfalls in patient communication.
Though we will use specific examples from many cultures, the facilitator will not presume to provide the answer to specific situations but rather, will provide insight into areas that should be investigated and addressed when dealing with patients and their families.
